From the Punchfit® Authentic Thai Pad Combinations eBook
Running out of Thai Pad combos to use with your clients? Punchfit’s got your back. Checkout these free combos – complete with tips for both the student and the padholder.
QUE – LEAD PUSH KICK – LEAD JAB – REAR STRAIGHT PUNCH – REAR CROSSING ELBOW – SPACER
Padholding Tips – If the student begins to ‘rush’, make them wait by keeping the pads in the ‘que’ position and then present the Thai Pad when ready.
Student Tips – Ensure to keep your chin down and core engaged throughout the combination. This will assist in stepping back quickly when spaced back.
QUE – LEAN BACK – REAR STRAIGHT PUNCH – REAR CROSSING ELBOW – REAR HIGH KNEE – SPACER
Padholding Tips – If the student fails to lean back or react, it’s your duty of care to NOT strike the student.
Student Tips – When leaning back, slide the rear leg back further to assist with your balancing and the lowering of your head height. Remember to tuck the chin down into the lead shoulder.
QUE – JAB – REAR STRAIGHT PUNCH – REAR ROUND KICK – SPACER – STEP & PIVOT
Padholding Tips – Remember to pivot on the spot only; your job is to make the student move around you. When turning, think how far the student needs to step to meet you. Start with a small pivot first to gauge the student’s ability. Once a full circle has been completed, try turning in the other direction!
Student Tips – When stepping laterally, move the foot closest to the direction first. If you are moving left, move your left foot first. This will ensure you maintain your stance when moving.
